Scottish Harbour at Sunset

This company has designed and constructed more than 45 yachts in wood and steel since 1985. They have completed over 15 projects according to my research. Among those 15 was that of the motor yacht 61 S. It’s overall length is 18.60m, the width 5.00m, Draught 1.3m, Displacement 35 tons.

The biggest one that I’ve seen was that of the NIDRI STAR I. Its overall length is 27.00m, Width 8.00m, and the Draught 2.30m. I don’t understand all these measurements when it comes to a boat, but I know a boat person would. This boat is very big, and I think this one is one of the few that you can go inside of. Others are small sails that has no place to go but on deck. If I’m going to be on a boat, I want to have some shade somewhere.

The sail boats are for people who are going to do a certain task and immediately depart. Like going fishing or something like that. I couldn’t imagine just sitting in the sun baking after I’d finished fishing or doing whatever I was doing. If I am to relax or just chill, I need to be inside somewhere cool or in the shade outside.

A Dream Coming True

You know what? Every site that I’ve been too actually says something about a dream coming true when it comes to a yacht. That is the right way of thinking, but I think that line is running its course. Maybe they need to come up with something else because I’ve seen those words on every yacht site I’ve visited so far.

I’d like to think that about a boat or yacht, but I’ve never had the pleasure of riding one. I don’t count on that day ever happening either, but when those words are spoken like  that it makes me think of a little girl wanting a pony.

Most little girls would like a pony, but it makes you think of how a little girl dreams of having her own pony. I’ve never had that dream because I’m afraid of anything that moves. I think that a yacht could be considered a dream in certain scenarios, and the idea of a yacht make me think of romance. This would be a good scenario because yachts are used for vacations, honey moons or any kind of getaway.

yachts are also used for business, and this would not be a good scenario.

Yacht Designers: Abeking & Rasmussen

Their first shipyard started in Lemwerder on the banks of Wester in 1907. The founders of this shipyard was that of two gentlemen named George Abeking and Henry Rasmussen, and they’ve built more than 6,400 ships and boats. They still have a few classic yachts, however, they don’t sell them. They care for these vessels on daily bases today.

They decided to upgrade in the seventies when they’d started looking at different styles and trends for boats. They view yachts as a ship charged with emotion, and they consider them to be very personal. They also believe that yacht stand for a dream coming true, and I love how they think. They build their yachts to monitor the style and philosophy of it’s owner.

That is in every aspect quality service. To be so passionate about making a boat says a lot about what kind of service their customers will be getting and the feedback they will get from the customer.

According to the news on their site, they’d contracted their largest yacht ever before the 100th birthday of the German shipyard located near Bremen. This boat will be built according to Loyd Register of Shipping and MCA.

Features included:

  • Low resistance for perfect seaworthiness
  • Five deck with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure
  • Speed 16.5 knots
  • 6 guest cabins
  • Cinema & Sauna
  • 2 spacious mess areas

I’d love to ride on this yacht. The features are wonderful, and it sounds like this would be one of the world’s biggest yachts.

Aluminum Yachts?

I have never heard of an aluminum vehicle at all. I wonder what else people are going to think of next because certain things should only used at certain times. Aluminum is one of those things. If the weather was too hot, I don’t think that anyone would like to be riding in something aluminum. Maybe I’m thinking wrong because aluminum is used sometimes to reflect the sun away from areas. That’s right! I don’t know what I was thinking!!! I guess I got aluminum and something else mixed up.

In this case, aluminum would be a nice accessory to your vehicle. Even your boat. Aluminum saves energy and it looks great. A company called ABD specializes in the construction of aluminum yachts. They’ve been in business since 1987, and they have never had an unsatisfied customer. They’d have to have quality service for their customers to be happy with their work, and I’d probably want to go them to have my yacht built.

They build whatever makes your heart pump, and the ones I’ve seen are really nice. The colors and sizes are wonderful and unique, and I’d love to ride on one if it means less heat. That’s what I said right. Aluminum rejects the heat and send it reflecting elsewhere. Nice.

Yacht Design Schools

Being that I like to make things, this really peaked my interest. I’ve worked on things like buildings, but I’ve never had the pleasure of working on any type of vehicle.

In my research, I’ve found that there are many school you can attend to learn how to build a yacht. I thought that this would be something totally different building cars and houses or anything like that. I thought that there would be only a couple or one designated place to go learn how to build yachts. I was wrong.

Among the schools that I’ve researched is that of Farr Yacht Design. This school can be located in some states in the US, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand and UK. This school offers undergraduate services, Graduate, vocational and continuing education services. The programs they offer is Naval Architechture, Marine Engineering and Yacht Design.

Celebrity Video Shoots on a Yacht

I can remember a few video shoots being shot on yachts. There’s a video by Aaliyah, an actress/R&B singer.

She has her crew behind her dancing and such. I tried to do that dance, but I don’t know the whole dance. They took shots of her being in the water also. It was a very nice video, and I love the song.

Another one I can think of is Jay Z video. It’s called ‘Big Pimpin’.

They were all on the yacht having fun, and the I often wish I could be in someone’s video. Not on a boat or anything, but somewhere nice. It looks like it’s so much fun to shoot a video, but I know those celebrities have had times too.

Another one I can think of is Mariah Cary. I don’t know if it was her video or not, but she was in it. She played as a victim of a kidnapping, and Eddie Griffin was one of the bad guys. That was so funny, and I think she told him that his breath stink. She told him he needed some gum, and he just started putting a lot of gum in his mouth. It was very funny.

Would you let someone borrow your yacht?

In my opinion, I’d never let someone borrow my yacht unless I was on it with them when they borrowed it.:-) That’s like giving away your life savings. Would you trust someone to hold thousands of dollars that you own? You may as well be doing that if you let someone borrow your yacht.

Yachts are not cheap, and you’d have to be a person of high standards or rich to even look at one. You could charter yachts and make money off  of them, but I’d think you’d have to own it first. Chartering yachts is just like lending them or renting them out to people so they could go on a vacation.

I often wonder what it would be like to charter yachts and make a lot of money.  I’m not a very wealthy person, so it’d be had for me to imagine what it’d be like. I’d also think you’d have to have the knowledge to charter anything as well. When you get a license to do something they make sure you know what you’re doing by giving you tests and such. I’d think you’d have to go to school or something to do that, but I could be wrong.

What would you do if your yacht was stolen?

Posted by Priscilla Smith on 9th May 2008

I’ve never heard of this happening before, but what would you do if your yacht was stolen? People steal cars and planes, so why wouldn’t they steal a yacht? I don’t think anyone thinks about this. For one thing, you probably won’t see a regular person on a yacht unless invited. I don’t think a regular person can own a yacht because they cost too much, but a rich person can.

If a rich person can get a yacht, they can get some security for their yacht right? I’m sure that’s what they do, but a regular person can’t get any security on their cars. The only security we can get is insurance, and that doesn’t always work out. A rich person can have someone stand guard all day and night, but no one else can afford to pay someone to do that.

Could this even be possible that someone can steal a yacht and get away in time? Yachts aren’t that fast, and I’m sure they can be found because their on the water. Cars and other vehicles are harder to find if stolen because they are on land. You have all kinds of buildings and stashes to hide them on land. The water is very open, and can see someone coming and leaving miles away.

Yacht in Movies

Posted by Priscilla Smith on 9th May 2008

we are looking for such different things in life.

A yacht was in a movie called ‘Rush Hour’. I remember the scene to which the yacht was in.  To be honest, this is when I first knew anything about a yacht. I saw this movie, and I asked myself a question. What’s a yacht? I was thinking that it had to be a boat because in the movie someone said ‘my yacht is yacht’.

I did a little research on it, and I’d starting hearing more of the word. I asked myself if the  titanic was a yacht. I don’t know. What’s the difference between a mega yacht and a large ship? What is the difference in all of them? Boats? Ships? Yachts? They all do the same thing.

Sure you have some bigger than others, but they all do the same thing. They mobilize people or cargo on water. They are designed to be on water like cars are designed to be on roads. Airplanes are designed to travel in the sky, and I’ll never get on one either. I asked myself another question. Why do certain boats have wheels on them? I’ve seen this in movies, so I assume it happens in real life too. What’s the point when the boat is going to be in the water?

Yacht Designers: C.W.Paine Yacht Designers

Waikawa Marina, Picton

Do you ever wonder who is the world’s best yacht builder? In doing research on yachts, I often wonder who would be considered the world’s best yacht builder. How that be determined? Do they host contests every year or something?

If they were to find that out, they’d have to do something of that sort. You can’t just say someone is the best because they may not be. Among the best, I think that this man should be considered in contribution to yachts being built. His name is Chuck Paine, and his associates. They’ve been in business since 9174, and I’ve seen some of their work. It was said that they’d designed some of the world’s highest quality yachts.

Isn’t that nice to know? They should be getting business like crazy considering that they serve worldwide.  They’re company is obviously internationally known, and they should be making a lot of money if they don’t. Rich people who don’t like to spend money but like to travel the water would like something like their designs. Yes, there are some rich people who don’t like to spend their money. It’s not like they’d miss it anyway. They’d probably use a small yacht for business purposes I’d think.
